Mike Dillard single-handedly revolutionised the MLM industry.  Without Mike Dillard we would all still be hitting on our friends and family and stopping complete strangers in shopping malls to ask them to look at our business, instead of using Attraction Marketing to attract people to us.  We have alot to thank Mike for!  So it is hard to believe that Mike Dillard himself once did all the things that so many Network Marketers do in their first days in the business.

Mike Dillard got started in MLM whilst still in College.  He was shy and introverted and the thought of selling petrified him.  He was his sponsors worst nightmare, constantly calling them up, asking lots and lots of questions, but never actually taking any action.  Sounds familiar!  He spent many years getting his tools in order and studying Network Marketing; doing anything to prevent him from actually calling his leads.  He, like so many others, wasted 5 years doing that.

But he did have a dream of succeeding in the industry and didn’t want to do anything else.  However, there was a disconnect between his vision and what he would allow himself to do!

When he graduated college, he entered corporate America, taking a job in Dallas which required him to make 300 calls a day.  He took this job only to get himself over the hurdle of his dread of making calls.  By his third day he had conquered that fear, the fear that had held him back for five years.  He began to learn more and more about marketing, particularly target marketing.  He discovered that the people to target, were people who were already buying what you were selling.

Mike Dillard started calling geneology lists but realised that these were not good, targeted or qualified leads.  He began to think along the lines that if he could get five people a day to call or get in touch with him, he would succeed without all the cold-calling.  When he started studying internet marketing, be discovered the need for an effective capture page.  He then taught himself copywriting, by studying and copying any great copywriters work that he could get his hands on.  He realised that you needed to give something of value, in order for someone to give you their contact details.

He then put all this information into a training guide for his group.  His people ate it up and started putting it to use.  They then discovered Funded Proposals and realised that they had a system up and running.  Mike Dillard then made his training guide generic, so it could be made available to other MLM companies, and it was launched into the industry in 2005.  This was Magnetic Sponsoring, on which all of the attraction marketing used on the internet today is based.

Everyone, in any and all MLM business should have read this book.  If not they are missing a huge chunk of their knowledge, because it explains exactly how to become, and position yourself as, a leader.  Without this information, however long you have been in Network Marketing offline, you are not going to succeed online.

Mike Dillard is such a master of this industry, that it is hard to believe he was once in the same shoes as so many of us Network Marketers who come online to try to resurrect their MLM business!  It just goes to show that however your business is doing at the moment, there is hope, if you are prepared to put in the work.  Mike Dillard put in the work and stepped up to the mark – are you prepared to??

If your home business is not on the internet, it is doubtful that you will be using a ‘Funded Proposal’ system.  The problem is that the huge majority of people who start a home business will make very little money or actually reach residual income level in their MLM.  This, as well as very few leads, is why so many MLM businesses go bust.

 Whichever MLM you join,, you are encouraged to invest in some Personal Development materials, such as books and audio’s.  This is much the same when you begin to market your business online; you need to work on yourself.  Attraction Marketing would be the initial training.  To do this, I personally would suggest you buy and read Mike Dillard’s ‘Magnetic Sponsoring’.  And this is where the ‘Funded Proposal’ comes into play.

As the numbers of people joining our online businesses is so much higher, it would be time consuming to train everyone. So to have them read  Magnetic Sponsoring and understand the concept of attraction marketing,  would save us a great deal of time.  This valuable but low cost book explains everything for us and shows a prospect what they need to do and how to develop themselves.  It also gives the new prospect a back office, so that when they get leads, they can suggest they buy Magnetic Sponsoring and make a commission on it, which they can use for more advertising.  They may then be in business long enough to start making a profit!

 A Funded Proposal therefore solves one of the biggest problems in MLM, not making much money at the beginning, and by doing that solves another major problem, which is training.  A new person needs to know what they will require to market successfully; a website, an autoresponder, a webhost, domain names etc etc.  And of course, they need to be shown how to market; social media, Pay-per-click, email campaigns and others.

 Few people know how to begin when they first bring their business online.  Therefore a Funded Proposal, with training and a system to follow is ideal.
