This morning I went on Facebook and had a few new friend requests as usual.  I decided to deal them straight away.  I accepted the first two, then looked at the third one, who had written quite alot by Facebook standards.  Wow, it was from Robert Kiyosaki, author of Rich Dad, Poor Dad amongst other things.  Doesn’t it make you realise the power of Social Media!  Robert Kiyosaki requested me as a friend!! Amazing. Yes, I’m am sure I am not the only one, but doesn’t it just amaze you that you can connect with just about anyone on Social Media sites.

It would have been hard to imagine being able to chat on the internet with anyone famous a few years ago.  My daughter spoke to Dawn French a few months ago on Twitter! Incredible.  So are you using Social Media in your business? And if not why not?  Robert Kiyosaki is in his 60’s but he is embracing the internet and modern ways of doing business.  He actually asked me to join his fan page, and offered me an ebook he has written for $5 instead of $65.  Well of course I grabbed it; who wouldnt?

Because readers are leaders, and leaders are readers!!

And anything written by Robert Kiyosaki  is outstanding so I cannot wait to read it!

So what, I hear you say.  Well what made Robert choose Facebook to spread the word about his new ebook??  Because Facebook is totally FREE!  He knows that because his name is well known he can get extraordinary exposure for this ebook, just by creating a presence on Facebook.  And it WILL go viral.  Because Facebook is the second most visited site on the internet now; everyone reads each others pages and it will spread like wildfire!!

So if you have a business and you are not promoting that business on Facebook, you are missing out on some spectacular, instant free advertising.  More and more internet marketers are jumping onto the bandwagon and advertising their business for free on Facebook.  Start your own group, give away free information, advice or tips on your area of business.  Invite people to join.  Add other people as friends like Robert did.  And just see the results you get back.

But in doing that, don’t force other people to look.  Just a friendly word to them about what you are offering, nothing heavy. That is definitely the way to get people interested.  Don’t force your business down people’s throats, you will just be avoided as a spammer.  If you give value, you will get people’s interest.

When my network marketing company finally got on the internet and gave us all a website, we were so excited.  We knew everyone made money on the internet, and we thought, wow, this will transform our MLM business!  We expected lots of customers to ‘come across’ our website on the internet, and prepared ourselves for an upsurge in business!  We even paid for a recruiting website ourselves, which we thought may get us a trickle of interested leads.

Traffic to go to our website never really entered our head.  I suppose we thought that people would accidentally find our site and be so interested they could not help themselves but to sign up or buy products!  Obviously we were giving our several hundred cards a week too, with the details of our sites on, so we were sure we would have results.  And we did.  Yes, at least 5 leads filled in their details on our site.  Unfortunately three of them were spam, as we now call it; idiots we called them at the time.  And the other two were unqualified people who thought we were in the ‘get rich quick’ brigade!

Now we know the secret MLM tip! Several years on, and with so much more experience of working on the internet, I regard these early attempts at internet marketing with a smile.  We knew so little.  Nowadays I find it amusing that Network Marketing companies still give out these lovely little replicated websites to their distributors.  I understand completely that it is their way of holding on to the content of these websites.  Obviously they do not want to be taken to court for their distributors over-zealous descriptions of their products benefits!

So my question to all you who are in MLM now is this:

 Do you realise that your company website is a waste of time? 

And do you know that you need to have your own website or at least a capture page, if you want to sponsor reps online?  The problem is that search engines, such as Google, hate company websites because there are so many of them all over the internet and they all have the same information.  Therefore it will not rank them, so they never show up on the first page, where people might click on the link and visit your site.  Google likes webpages to have original content, and it likes it to change regularly. Company websites are stagnant.  They have no new content, so will not rank highly.

Therefore if you are fishing around on the internet now, wondering how some people manage to sponsor other people online; your company website is not the answer.  You need to learn how to set up a capture page to get peoples details, how to attract them to you in the first place, what to do with them once you have them, and how to get them to join your business.  All in all, you need a system to follow, unless you have a mentor who will show you it all, step by step.  Because believe me, there is a pretty steep learning curve.  But it is well worth the effort, because it knocks offline prospecting into touch!

Do you have the right qualities for MLM Leadership?  So many people who start a home business in Network Marketing do not feel ready to be a leader in the industry.  They do not feel they have the right qualities for Leadership.  They may have never been in a management or senior role before and do not feel that they could achieve this goal.  However, leaders are made, not born.  If you want to become a leader you need to DECIDE to decide that you are going to be a leader.

What Can I Do To Become A Leader?

1.  In order to develop these leadership qualities, you need to be taking time out of every day to work on your Personal Development.  You should be reading books each day which will improve your skills, open your mind and help you to develop into the leader which you aspire to become.  Listen to a training webinar or audio recording everyday about some aspect of the industry;  there is not shortage of training material on the internet.

A amazing statistic which illustrates this point is that the average CEO of a company, with an income of over $1 million a year reads about one book a week, all through the year, at a pace of about 15-20 minutes a day.  The average American reads one book a YEAR, at an average salary of $30,000 a year!!

2.  Put into practise what you have learned each day.  Whether this is a new method of marketing to try, or a better way to relate to others, go out and at least start the ball rolling.  Don’t leave it for a month, otherwise you are wasting the training you have done, and you will probably have forgotten what you learned.

3.  Pass on what you have learned.  However you do it, by email, video, article or other method, teach people what you have learned.  The best way for you to digest what you have learned is to teach it to someone else.  In this way people will see you as valuable, because you are always teaching what you know.

4.  Believe in the people who are in your team.  You may have to have more belief in them than they do themselves, to start with.  If you show them that you believe they can do what is necessary, they may start to trust themselves.

5.  Motivate your team.  Encourage them to work towards success.  Share good news with them and your excitement for their successes.

6.  Put them on the tracks to success by showing them a system they can follow in order to achieve success.  Then stand back and allow them to work on that success.

7.  Spend the majority of your time with the ones who are working hardest.  Understand that you will always get people who, although they seem to have the right levels of enthusiasm, will do little or nothing.

8.  Study, and Teach!

9.  Study more, and Teach more!

Remember, no-one can decide when you have become a leader, but YOU!

Have A Clear Mindset

If you have a clear mindset, you will know exactly what you are doing everyday.  You will have defined goals and a plan of action for each day, with a goal visualised at the end of say, 90 days.  If however you are going on Facebook with the intention of doing some business, and ending up chatting and messing about, you obviously do not have the right mindset.  You need to be focused on the money-making exercises everyday, following a plan and using the hours you have available fully.  The internet is full of interesting things to do and see and you can quickly lose all sense of time.

Shun Procrastination

You need to let go of procrastination, plan out your day and follow your timetable.  Do not let others stop you; become unstoppable.  To succeed in MLM you need to be a bit like a rhino, charging onwards.  You need to be disciplined.  Do not strive for perfection, just try to get the job done as well as you can.  Everyone has good and bad days, just forgive yourself and move on. Dont obssess about it; tomorrow is another day.  When you have finished your timetabled work, enjoy some relaxation, without thinking or worrying about your work.  Enjoy being in the moment!

Make The Decision

It all begins with a decision. You need to decide to have a positive mental attitude. Enjoy your work, be optimistic and happy and you will attract like-minded people.  Be negative and you again will attract like-minded people.  And avoid those who will try to steal your dreams. Not everyone dreams as big as we do!  They will try to bring you to their level because you make them feel out of their comfort zone!  You are pushing the boundaries.  Have an unshakeable mindset; just laugh it off.  Dont let them bring you down.

Set Up Your Game-Plan

So set up your gameplan – give yourself realistic simple goals which are big enough to stretch you, but not so hard you cannot possibly achieve them.  Make these goals into daily habits, and become productive.  Keep order in your life; have a great mindset and a great routine.  If you do not seem to have enough spare time, or you have a job as well, get creative.  If you normally watch TV for 4 hours everynight (and lots of people watch more!) decide to only watch one hour, and use the other 3 for your business.  If you go to the gym, work out and chat to your mates and this all takes 2 hours, go for a run from home instead and use up only half an hour.  We all have 24 hours in a day, use it wisely.  And soar!

 MXI have a binary compensation plan where you need to have two equal legs in order to receive your full entitlement. They have seven different ways for you to get paid, starting with a quickcheck for referring someone to the business and  several different bonuses. The recommended daily intake of Xocai chocolates is 3 square, or chunks, and at $1.50 each portion, I doubt that a great deal of chocolate is going to be sold to customers. The distributors therefore will be buying the majority that is sold.  In the lower stages of the comp plan you need to buy one box a month, and once you reach executive this goes up to two boxes a month.

 The recruiting for the business is done in the usual MLM way, at home parties and meeting at various hotels.  They have regular conference calls.  Each rep pays approximately $40 for a company replicated website and back office, which they can then customise with their own front page.  They are not fully integrated into internet marketing, although you can actually enroll someone online, as well as order chocolate and business tools.

  But if you really intend to succeed in Xocai, you need to learn how to market yourself not your business.  Branding yourself as a leader is the modern way to do MLM, especially on the internet.  If you do not know how to do this online, you need a system to show you exactly what to do, just like all the big leaders do.  It really is a simple decision really, keep on doing what you are doing now if you are getting good results, but if you are not, I would heartily recommend you move onto the internet and learn how to be a leader and get people coming to you!  Now is the time, coming up to the New Year, when we need to make the right decisions for the new decade and move forward, not remain the same.

You’re so excited!  You just attended a meeting about a home based business opportunity and you’ll soon be rich!  You have bought a fantastic box of products and you cannot wait to tell everyone about them!  You are so pumped up when you arrive home and can hardly stop the flow of words from tumbling out, about all the money you are going to make.

 Your views are not shared with your other half! “You’ve spent how much money…?” they say.  “What on earth possessed you?  We can’t afford that.”  Your explanation is not a patch on the words used by the lady at the meeting.  You stand firm and insist that your friends will think it’s great.

 The next day your start making phone calls to your friends to get some support.  Your closest friend says she knew someone who did that for a while but couldn’t make it pay.  After hearing you out whilst you bend her ears, another friend says she agrees with your partner.  So you ring round all of your friends that you can think of and after 2 solid hours when your ear is ringing and your hand is aching from holding the receiver, you hang up, with only one friend who has agreed to pop round for coffee ‘one day’ and have a look.

 What makes it difficult is that when you join an MLM business you are expected to show your products to your family and friends. So when a network marketer decides to search for leads on the internet, they throw their products into everyone’s face! That is not the way to work online.  Actually I don’t think it works that well offline!  If you want to market online, and lots of us do, what you should be marketing is YOURSELF!

 You see people don’t buy products, people buy people.  It is all to do with psychology.  If you did not like the look of someone, you would not buy from them.  If, however, you found the person appealing, in some way and it was a product you wanted, or were interested in, then you would be drawn to them.  Online, when someone needs a mentor, they look around for someone to appeals to them.  My daughter is often drawn to people her own age who she admires, whereas I prefer people in my own age group who seem happy and friendly.

 So how can I sell my products, or my business opportunity I can hear you say?  On the internet you sell yourself first and your opportunity later.  First you find a good photo of yourself and then you start to build relationships with people.  Eventually during one of your talks, your business will be discussed, and then you have an opening.  Maybe you will ask them, or they will ask you.

 Putting up notices all over the internet offering anyone and everyone your business is a big no-no!  You would not ask everyone at a party to join your business, so why do it here?  It is not something you should do.  Therefore it is not correct to do such a thing on Facebook or anywhere on social media. If you look you will see person after person advertising their business, and after awhile, you stop reading them. You must sell yourself.  If people can see that you are worth knowing, that you give value and will help them, they may be attracted to you and want to know more about your business or products!

The trouble with MLM as we are shown it, is that we are sent out, with little idea of what we are doing, to market our business to our friends and family.  They are baffled as to why we think they want to do that same thing to their friends, and start to avoid us and stop answering our calls.

 So you have rung everyone you know, using the ’some will, some wont; next’ principle and when you have no-one left, you start pitching to strangers in the street and in the grocery store.  Sadly now, everyone is wary about these ‘pyramid schemes’, as they sometimes call them, and to be truthful if you think about it, you can see why!
