Do you use a Dream Book, or a dream board to help you visualise WHY you are doing your home based business? Many people (and I was guilty of this too when I first started my business) think that a dream book or board is a load of baloney! I found it hard to believe that sticking pictures of a new car or a holiday I wanted would help my business in any way. I would just nod along when anyone told us to go and make a dream book, and then just not bother.
Until one day at a home business meeting, when a lady bought in her dream book and showed us through it. She was so passionate about what she wanted from the future, that it shone from her. Her eyes were alight when she showed us pictures of her family and how she intended to help them once she had the money to do so. And I realised at that moment that this lady would definitely succeed in her home based business. You could just tell from the passion she had when she talked about her dreams. You knew nothing would ever stand in the way of her success. And that planted a seed (just like my last article!!) in my head.
A short while later it was my birthday and I asked one of my daughters to buy me a beautiful deep pink book that I had seen that even tied with a ribbon. I didn’t go out looking for a book; I hadn’t even realised that I intended to start a dream book, but while I was browsing around a shop I saw it and thought straight away – my dream book! Amazing how the seed of an idea can be planted in your head, and start to grow sometime later!
So a few weeks later I started thinking about what I wanted to put in my book. I knew my main why was to get my partner Alan out of his job. So I started with pictures of him, and how his life would look once he could give up working! But as I thought more about it, I realised that I already had a good idea of what I wanted to see in my dream book. It expanded my mind and my thinking – I was actually designing my future life.
My dream book is definitely a work in progress; when I started it everything was a dream. Now some of my dreams have started to appear in my life and I find I have more goals to add to my book. Like grandchildren for instance and how I can help them in the future! And I am remembering long forgotten dreams or wishes I had and perhaps gave up on earlier in my life. Now I am bringing out these dreams, re-examining them and adding them to my dream book if I still want them.
And don’t make the mistake of thinking its all about a new car, house or holiday. My dream book is full of how I can help my family, friends and charities. About how I can lead a better, more fulfilled and healthier life! It’s not all about money, but thats nice too!
If you have been guilty of dismissing the idea of a dream book or board, think again! Because you have pictures of your goals clearly there in front of you, you mind accepts that and leads you towards your dreams. I know because it is slowly happening to me!! If you can visualise what you want out of life you can get it! Make it real!
So what about you?? Do you have a Dream Book or a Visualization Board? What is it like? Do you believe?? Please let me know by adding your comments; I would love to know what other people think about using a Dream Book!
To Your Success

Hi Sue,
this is so beautiful. I have a goal book which is similar to your dream book. However I never thought to include my families dreams. I shall look into this a bit more. You inspired me to go back and have another look at what it is that I want to achieve and why I want it.
Hi Sue,
I agree, it may sound silly to some but it's all about visualizing your dreams and goals in order to cement them in your mind and subconscious. We become that which we think about, and when we focus on the things we want in life rather than the things we don't have or don't want, we move ever closer to creating the lives we so desire.
My dream board includes pictures of some of the material things I will manifest into my life, but also less tangible things. I have a photo of a woman with a great figure, some affirmations, the header to an article entitled “Women With Heart Give Back”, and similar types of entries. Like you said, it's not all about the money or the “stuff”, but that doesn't hurt either
Sue,
I love how you explain that your Dream Book is NOT about the material items you can get, but rather about how you want your life to look and what impact you can have on others through living your dream. The cool thing is, it is a work in progress and will continue to grow and change as you accomplish your dreams and set to new ones.
Way to go!
Val
Hi Sue,
A dream book or visualization box helps you make-believe what you want to achieve,it also gives you the ability to conquer the unknown by the power of visualization, so if you are a home business owner and you think that is kid's staff well think again because you are being left behind!
Awesome!

Sue, Wow, what a great idea! I think I will start a dreambook of my own. I think it's a great idea to create this book and look at it ocassionaly to reinforce your “Why” Great post! Thanks, Joseph McDevitt
Hi Sue:
Thanks for the kick in the tail. I have had dream boards in the past, but haven't put one together since moving to a new state. I've actually been thinking about one lately, so your article came at just the right time. I guess I better go get a poster board…
Keep up the great work.
Live with passion and purpose,
Vanessa
I believe that we can make our lives into anything we desire. I use a cork board as my vision board so that as my visions change or I add something to it, it is easily changeable. I keep it where I can see it daily. It reminds me that Goals + Actions = Results, it contains the things I want to achieve in my business over the next few months, and it contains the desires I have for my life … including what I can do for my family, friends and charities.
I agree with you that it can bring out your passion and determination as it did for the lady at your meeting. If you know where you are going and have a plan for getting there, you will arrive there!

Thanks for your comments Wendy. I often wonder if I should have a board out as well, so it is always visible! Will give it some thought.
You are welcome Vanessa! It's amazing how we often read exactly what we need to hear isn't it? Thanks for your comments!

Hi Sue
I wrote a similar article a couple weeks ago, and you are right on! Dream boards and books are nothing to sneeze at! I love the things you have chosen to focus on, and that you did a video and allowed us to have a more personal look at your life.
Keep manifesting all your dreams!!
Laura Morris
Thanks Laura for your lovely comments!
I'm so proud of you Sue for this really thoughtful video. Especially the dream of helping others. That is where the real life values surface and let us see you as an asset to our world. Thanks for posting and thanks for the really cool accent.
Thanks Nelson, what lovely comments! And it’s funny that when I first came online I was very worried about my accent because some people in England say i sound ‘posh’ and I wasn’t sure what people would think about it! I know enough now to realise you need to be yourself online!!

Sue, What a lovely idea and the article is so important. Lately I am reading a lot about the Law of Attraction, Positive Thinking and Visualisation etc. I hundred percent believe in your Dream Book or Dream Journal, It is not only visualization but a concrete thing. Many weight Watchers are successful when they keep a picture of their slimmer body in the kitchen to help their subconscious mind focused . I'd like to mention about your Dream Journal idea in my blog and website later with your link and send you one. Did you know about RAM? This is in the same line …and Olympic players, successful artists and writers use this technique. I have written about it my blog …http://alankarshilpa.blogspot.com/2010/02/wish-from-genee.html
Thank you Sue. I am retweeting it Visit you again. Dita.

Hi Dita,
Thanks you for your lovely comments! No I didn’t know about RAS!! I just checked out your blog and read all about it. Very interesting! You make some lovely jewellery; I will be revisiting your sites for a closer look soon!
Lovely to connect with you Dita.

I don't have a dream book yet. I have been thinking of it for a while, I guess it is laziness or something, i don't know. I do visualize a lot though. I am always dreaming and i do take action on daily basis that get me closer to my dream. I believe having it on paper will help better. The same way an Engineer will need to draw the plan of a building before building it, I should also try my best and put my ideas on paper
Thanks for sharing this
Loic
Hey Loic,
Thanks for your comments! I’ve had alot of feedback about this article and the general consensus seems to be in agreement with me, that dream books, or visualization boards DO work! But as you say, taking daily action is key! Here’s to our future!
