What Are The MLM Basics For Marketing Online – Tip 2

This is Tip 2 in the article series ‘What Are The MLM Basics For Marketing Online’.  The first tip was that you need a system in order to market your business online.  Without a system you would be spending a great deal of time and money trying to work out what to do.  The next MLM Basics For Marketing Online Tip is also a biggy!  Once you have a system in place, you need to get some Training!  This is the biggest problem in Network Marketing.  Although it is called ‘marketing‘, no-one give you any marketing training.  And when you bring your business online, it is all about the marketing.

So where do you go for training?  Well if you took tip number 1, getting a system, you would now have access to training.  Without the system, you could maybe try to find a mentor online who would be willing to give up his time to coach you.  Otherwise you would have to learn from your mistakes, just like a huge number of people do online.  The trouble with this is that you will probably do what you were taught offline and constantly spew out your information about your business.  This is the way the amateur networkers work.  It leads to people removing you from their lists of friends, because they are fed up of being sold to.

Training is hugely important for marketing on the internet

If you consider that you would have to be trained for any new job, then it is just the same on the internet.  You are very unlikely to know exactly what to do on your first day online.  Everything you have been taught about the ‘old school’ methods of Network Marketing does NOT work online! On the internet we use Attraction Marketing to generate leads. We do not chase prospects around, we do not cold call anyone and we do not pester people as they go about their work.  Prospects come to us, because they are attracted to us, not the other way round.

As well as trainings on all the social media sites, you will also need training about posting adverts, putting up banner adverts, how to do paid marketing such as pay-per-click and how to actually use Attraction Marketing.  Once you have studied some of the ways to attract leads, you can start to generate leads into your system everyday.  The best thing to do when you are just starting is to learn to master just one or two methods of lead generation.  When you are getting 10-20 leads a day from your efforts, you can continue to do that method, but also get some training on another method and stick at that until you have mastered that one too.

Eventually you will have built up several different ways to attract leads into your business.  But all this takes time.  Do not give up after a month or two, because it does take time to understand marketing online completely.  You may feel that you are doing everything you have been taught, but you are not getting the results you hoped for.  It could just be one little tweak that makes all the difference.  Just go over the training again, and see if you can pick up something you may have missed the first time. 

And then just keep going!

PrePaid Legal Leads

Prepaid Legal Leads can be difficult to find in your warm market.  Although your family and friends may be interested in getting legal cover, they are unlikely to want to join the business unless they are very business minded or entrepreneurial.  Once the warm market is exhausted, the options for generating Prepaid Legal Leads have always been buying leads or approaching your cold market.

Prepaid Legal is one of the oldest, most well established and successful Network Marketing companies around, but it has one downfall.  By not using the internet to help their associates generate Prepaid Legal leads, they will always lose associates who are discouraged by not enrolling people into their business.   Once the associates have approached their warm market about the business, they will need to go out and find other people to talk to.

Prepaid Legal actually became a Network Marketing company in 1983, but the company really started in 1969 when the founder of the company, Harland C Stonecipher was involved in a car accident, which left him with legal bills.  Prepaid Legal has over 1.5 million associates.  In the last quarter of 2009, the number of associates joining this company rose by 89.4% on the previous year!  Of course, more people do join Network Marketing companies in a recession, but even allowing for that, that percentage is incredible.

For around $20 a month, you get access to their lawyers for your legal problems.  Some companies purchase this protection and give it to their employees as an additional benefit.

Prepaid Legal encourages associates to use ‘Old School’ methods of prospecting such as approaching your family and friends and the three foot rule.  Sadly few Network Marketing companies have an online system to teach their associates how to find qualified leads.  Some people try buying ‘Legal leads’ but the majority of these leads are old, or have been used several times already.  They rarely work and are usually not targeted.

The modern way to generate Prepaid Legal leads is to use a system online which shows you step by step how to market and how to set up your own attraction marketing system to magnetically draw leads to you without using the out-dated methods usually associated with Network Marketing.  This means you will have access to far more people using the internet, because you are connecting with people all over the world, rather than just in your local area.

Video Marketing will rock your MLM!  It is one of the best ways available to get yourself noticed using Attraction Marketing.  Because YouTube is now ranking as the third most visited site on the internet, any mlm business owner who regularly downloads videos to YouTube are well on their way to becoming recognised and remembered online.

And who wouldn’t want to rock their MLM with Video Marketing?

I know you are probably saying its scary but you just have to get over yourself!  No-one really likes seeing themselves up on a screen, but you have to remember that other people see you differently.  Just try to imagine the camera/video is your friend and have a conversation with them.  Relax and try to tell a story or  concentrate on getting your point across.  Have a written plan of what you are going to say in case your mind goes blank and try to find somewhere comfortable to stand or sit.  If you feel uncomfortable inside try going into your garden and find a nice background for your video.

Make sure once you have set up an account with YouTube that you connect with other people there.  Watch other peoples videos, and subscribe to every channel that you enjoy.  Add anyone you particularly like, or already know as a friend.  Leave comments for people and always encourage others.  You will find that many people, especially fellow MLM’ers will reciprocate and subscribe to your channel.  This alone will bring you into more and more peoples consciousness, because the sheer numbers of people using the site mean that your videos will be watched regularly.

Post videos up everyday.  Particularly if you are just starting out with Attraction Marketing.  After a couple of months of regularly posting videos and adding friends and subscribers, you will be perceived as someone who knows what they are doing with Video Marketing and will gain more viewers.

Make sure your videos give value.  You want the viewer to come away thinking that they would have paid money for the information you gave them, or that they definitely learned something from watching it.  It may be that you just made them think about something which they had forgotten, or maybe made them see something from another angle.  As long as they watch them and feel they were useful in some way, then you have succeeded in your efforts.

One good way of making a video is to share a story that you know with the viewer.  First of all it will probably make you feel more comfortable telling a story and secondly, stories inspire people and change peoples lives.  If they can relate to the story you are telling, they will feel good that something like that happened to someone else.  This may inspire them to follow in your footsteps and get on with their business.

A good way to ensure the viewer clicks through to your article or blog, or whatever you want them to click through to, is to not finish your thought!  If for instance. you were saying there are two ways to do something, tell them one, then suggest they click on the link to find out what the other one is! This way they feel psycologically that they are missing something and click on your link to find out what that is, even if they do not realise why they are doing it.

And always make sure you give a call to action at the end of your video.  A large number of people watching your video will click on a link if you advice them to.  You need to TELL them what to do next.  It could be ‘visit my website at..’ or ‘click on the link next to this video’.

9 MLM Article Writing Tips

Writing Articles seems quite straightforward, but if you need your articles to be seen and ranked, you will need to put some thought into several areas which may not have occurred to you.

1.  If you are writing for article directories, your articles need to be in an editorial style, and you can definitely not swear!  However if you are writing something just for your blog, or to put on a social media site such as MySpace or LinkedIn, the article can be more personable.

2.  Use only one or two keywords.  Make sure you use these keywords a few times in the article body, but do not use them where they do not make sense.  Try to use them naturally.  Dont repeat them ad nausem just to try and rank higher.  This will not work; the article will be considered spam.

3.  The title must be optimised.  It must attract attention or interest someone enough to make them want to read the article  It must also convey to the readers clearly what the article is about.

4.  The description of the article is VERY important. This is what will show up when someone does a search.  Imagine you were doing a search for something and the first four or five results sounded like what you were searching for.  Which one would you choose?  Whichever sounded the most interesting, or compelled you to open it!  So think carefully about what you say.  Try to draw the reader in to read your article!

5.  Focus the article body around the subject.  This may seem very basic, but if you are writing an article around one or two keywords, do not go off at a tangent; try to keep within those keywords and save anything else for another article on the wider points.  If the body of the article does not seem to agree with the title, google will not rank it highly.

6.  Keep your article short.  500 to 700 words is ample.  If you write more than this it is highly unlikely that people will read it.  There is so much information on the internet that people tend to scan read alot, and anything over this amount would just be ignored.  If someone does not bother reading to the end of the article, you are missing out on them coming across your author resource box.

7.  Do not promote anything in your article, just give value to the reader.  Use your author resource box only to promote.  The best way to do this is to make it read as though it is part of the article, so that if the reader has enjoyed your article, they will be encouraged to find out more about you.

8.  Try to add  a personal story into your article whenever you have one.  Always remember: Fact tell, stories sell!  People get inspired by stories about other human beings.  If you can get someone to think ‘thats how I feel’, or ‘thats what I did’, they may feel a connection with you and want to know more about you.

9.  If you can create an offer at the end of your article, always make sure it is specific to the subject of the article.  If a person is reading an article about Facebook, for instance, they will probably be happy to click on a link with more information about Facebook after they have read your article.

Blog Your Business Into Profit!!

 Why do you need a blog if you are marketing on the internetA blog is a MUST for your business in 2010!  But why?  And how can you make money from it?  So many people are shouting that we must get a blog, but you need to understand what the purpose of your blog is.

 1.  You Blog is the ‘Nerve Centre’ of your business!  Everything else is connected or linked to it in some way.  It is the hub, around which all the rest of your business revolves.  It is a friendly, homely place where people hang out and chat, and generally feel comfortable!  If it was a real place, it would be a coffee bar!! lol

 2.  A Blog can generate repeat business.  When someone becomes a customer, they may subscribe to your newsletter or list, or subscribe to your RSS feed, and this leads to repeat business!!

 3.  Market Research.  Because a blog is regularly updated, customers will come back time and time again to see what is new, and you can get them to give feed-back in the form of comments, on what they like, dislike or want to see more of.

 4.  You can keep product reviews in front of your buyers, and introduce new products and services.

 5.  It can be easily syndicated to other sites, which all point back to your blog.  This means that you have your link on other websites such as Twitter and Facebook and other social media sites, and these links all point to your blog.  You need as many links pointing to your blog is you can, because they all help send traffic to it.  Other people who have blogs may be willing to have your link on their own blog.  Also if you submit articles, you can make these link back to your blog page.  If you have lots of links out there, you will raise your ranking considerably.  Alot of traffic equals alot of business.

 6.  It is reasonably easy to set up and very easy to maintain, saving you time and effort in the long run.

 7.  Search Engines love blogs.  This is because they are regularly up-dated and added to, something which search engines love on any web page.

 8.  The site is always fresh, because it is constantly moving on, changing from videos to articles, news items, offers and comments, so it is appealing however many times you visit it.

 9.  Customers and visitors expect a blog nowadays from businesses.  They know about them and expect to be able to visit and check out the latest news in your company and to see if you have any offers on.

 10.  They are lots of fun.  You can mess about with your blog, interacting with your customers and really connecting with them.  This will lead to quality leads for your business and is the reason so many of the BIG Network Marketers have an excellent blog online.

A recent headline in Business Week Magazine said that Blogs will change your business and they advised “Catch Up…or Catch You Later”!!!

Twitter is Misunderstood!!

Twitter is very misunderstood. I hear so many people say that they do not understand it, or they dont see the point of it.  And it is difficult to put your finger on why it works so well, but it clearly does!  Twitter is now the 13th most visited site on the internet, globally.  There are several million users, although no official number has been released by Twitter as yet. Whatever the number, Twitter features almost daily in the news nowadays, whether it is a celebrity tweet or on the bad side a murder, following a dispute on Twitter, which is in the news this morning.

Twitter is the latest social media site to be used regularly for businesses.  At first no-one understood how a business could gain from being on the site.  Now it is well known that they can study what customers are saying about their brand and take action to keep on the right side of customers.  They can also announce events and generally give good customer service by being available and approachable.  In Network Marketing, many business builders are getting leads everyday from Twitter using Attraction Marketing.  You need to have a good clear photo, information about yourself in your bio and of course a link, usually to your blog for anyone to go for more information.

 Then you have your 140 character comments, or tweets. So what do you say?  Well the question Twitter asks is ‘What are you doing?’ and whilst many people actually answer that, others may send out lots of other information.  Inspirational or motivational quotes, jokes, photos using Twitpic or other services, or they may share something they have come across on the internet that they think other people may be interested to see.  If you are a Network Marketer you can put out links to your blog when you have up-dated it in order to drive traffic to it, or maybe links to YouTube to a new video you have posted.  It is all about getting more traffic to your blog.

 And obviously the more followers you have, the more traffic you can drive.  So you need to add more people to your followers everyday.  You can put your name in Twellow, which is the equivalent to the Yellow Pages for Twitter.  If you see a tweet which you find interesting and want to tweet it to your followers, you can Re-Tweet it.  Just click on the button at the right.  You can also Favourite any tweet that you see that you would like to keep, maybe like a saying you may want to remember.

 One great way to have lots of tips and ideas on how to use Twitter is to download the Twitter Toolbar onto your web browser.  This comes complete with 50 tools and resources for Twitter, and 100 Twitter Tips, by Dan Hollings, so you can get lots of ideas for how to use the site.  And all that is free!  And dont forget to put your Twitter address on everything you send out or subscribe to, because you will get lots of followers that way.  You can link your blog to Twitter, so that a tweet is sent out everytime you post a new article, using the Onlywire service.

 One last great tip!!

 Sometimes it is difficult when you are offline, to bring your business into the conversation without slapping someone across the face with it.  So if you meet someone and would love to approach them, ask them if they are involved in any social media sites and give them your contact details, such as your Twitter name, and ask for theirs so that you can connect.  Its subtle, does not scare them away and it works!

Free Leads For Your MLM!!!

If you want Free Leads for your MLM business online because you are building your business on a budget there is one thing that you will need alot of!

  And that is TIME!

Free Leads come at the price of your precious time; this is a fact.  To market online you need one of two things, time or money.  If you have money you can learn pay-per-click and pay for advertising, but for the majority of people this is not a viable option when they first market online.  Your time is valuable, but once you have set up and mastered the skills needed to create free leads, the process will be much quicker.

Article Marketing is probably one of the biggest ways of producing free leads.  At the beginning it may seem like a long-winded way of going about generating leads, but writing does get easier the more often you do it. When you publish your articles in directories on the web, you get the opportunity to put in your links to your blog or other page, so someone who reads your article and finds value in it will click on the link and arrive at your blog, where you can request their details in exchange for say a newsletter or a freebie.

Social media sites are another hot-bed for free leads.

Facebook, for instance, is the second most visited site on the internet at the moment!

So how many Network Marketers, or would be Network Marketers do you imagine log into Facebook regularly?  An enormous amount!  It is so easy to connect with people, put up your contact information and start to befriend them.  You can join groups and get involved with discussions about the MLM industry, but try to remember not to thrust your opportunity at everyone as soon as you connect with them.  Marketing on the internet is different from offline marketing.  It is more about Attraction Marketing, whereby you attract people into your business by showing value and giving respect.

MySpace and LinkedIn  are two other social media sites where it is easy to make contact with people and find free leads.  MySpace is often connected with young people, or with dating, but is now very well known for making good connections in the MLM industry.  LinkedIn is much more professionally based, and therefore more difficult to find leads, because you cannot just add friends the way you do on other social media sites.  Having said that, a number of people are getting good numbers of leads from LinkedIn, and the quality of these leads is much, much higher than other social sites as many high-ranking professionals use it.

Twitter is rising rapidly through the ranks of important websites, although totally different from other sites.  It is very easy to build up a following of thousands of people on Twitter and also to have several accounts.  Many Network Marketers are building up a loyal following and can broadcast as many 140 character comments or ‘tweets’ as they like.  The secret is to make sure you are adding targeted people to your list, either by searching for keywords, or by following the followers of famous networkers or authors in the industry.

Video Marketing is another way to generate free leads for your business.  YouTube ranks as the third most visited site on the internet.  It is free to open an account, so you can upload as many videos as you can make!  You then subscribe to other peoples videos, or add them as friends and you will find large numbers of people will then subscribe to your channel and watch your videos.  It is easy enough nowadays to record yourself; most modern digital cameras will record a short video easily enough.What you need to do is make your video of value and ensure you put a link to your blog in the description box when you upload it.

These are just some of the ways to create free leads.  As I said at the beginning of this article, what you need most with these methods is time.  And you need to stick to it!  Rome wasn’t built in a day, and leads are not going to come chasing you in a week or two.  When I said time, I meant time to do these methods of lead generation and time to see the results.  Just keep on keeping on and the results will come!!

MLM Lead Poverty

 

 Lack of leads is THE number one reason people fail in their Network Marketing business.  If you are working offline, it can be a full-time job just trying to get the names and phone numbers of enough people who are even slightly interested in a home-based business.  You need to be constantly handing out flyers, putting up notices or stopping people in the supermarkets and malls!  And even when you get them, the percentage of them that will actually join your business is so low, it can be quite demoralising!

Online is a different kettle of fish!

For a start you do not chase leads online.  They come to you!!

And secondly there are far more QUALIFIED leads online!

You see when people are beginning to fail in their Network Marketing business, they do what the majority of people do nowadays when they need more information about a subject, they research it on the internet. So everyday there are thousands of Network Marketers looking online to see how they can solve their MLM problems!  And these people have been pre-qualified by someone else for you.  We know they are interested in this business because they are already in it!  They may be unhappy in their present MLM and looking for other opportunities; they may be looking for a way to market online.

However, what they all have in common is that they have problems and are looking for a solution.  And thats where we come in!  The majority of Internet Marketers have been in that same position at some time in the past, so we know what these people are looking for and we know they are going to be bombarded with offers.  Some useful and some definately not.  What these Network Marketers need is information.  They need information about how and and where to market online.  And if they have never done any marketing before, the best way for them is to find a system to follow.

When I first came online looking for a solution, I thought I would never sift through the information on offer.  I flitted from one page to another, getting excited about one thing, then disappointed when I researched it a bit further.  Eventually I found a guy who seemed quite normal and friendly, and I came across him on several social media sites.  Reading up a bit more, I found he was involved in a marketing system which he believed was the best and solved not only the ‘lack of leads’ problem, but also the ‘lack of money’ problem that I also had!

I joined the same system and both these problems were solved!  It has taught me what attraction marketing is all about (Thanks Mike Dillard!), how to generated leads (especially free ones) and how to earn money from my leads, even if they do not join my MLM business!  This system is generic, so it can work for ANY Network Marketing business.  And after several months, I still have lots more information at my finger tips to apply to my business, so my lead generation skills can only get better!

Article Marketing – Will Google Rank Your Article?

Article Marketing is growing fast as a free way to generate leads online.  I am a great advocate of David Wood’s work in this area, and have just recently watched his article marketing webinar for what must be the 4th time, at least.  Every time I watch his webinars I discover some little principle to improve my lead generation from article writing.  He has the amazing ability to talk, seemingly without breathing, almost constantly, giving one after the other of precious little nuggets of information!

He can generate 50 leads a day through Article Marketing!

Something that I have heard him say several times which has somehow only just penetrated my skull is that Google has certain principles that it uses to decide whether an article is of value or not, and whether it should be ranked highly.  There are actually four main principles and they may seem simple at first:

1.            Relevancy – I didn’t really realise what he meant by this at first, but one day on Twitter, I  clicked on a link from a lady who was talking about finding people in your local area; good idea I thought – to find local people who wanted to start a home business would be wonderful.  Well, what I got WAS in my local area, but it was women who were looking      for…..um, well you know!!  Not quite what I had in mind!  If you click on a link about a   subject and find nothing there relating to that subject, it is not relevant, and google will not rank it highly.

2.             Popularity – Obviously this speaks for itself.  If it is something popular that lots of people are doing google searches on everyday, then google will rate it well.

3.            Unique Content – Again, pretty obvious.  Even if many of us are discussing the same idea, we  all should have our own slant on the subject and be able to make it interesting for the  reader.  We all offer something different!  Copying is just plain lazy.  Even if you like  someone else’s subject, you can definitely think of a different angle and put in your own  observations and thoughts.  So be Original.

4.            Consistency – It is no good writing an article today, and another one two weeks on Friday if  you want to generate leads.  You need to be writing consistently day after day before you will see any results.

If your articles contain all the necessary elements you will create a BUZZ!

However writing articles is just a small part of what you need if you want to generate lots of leads.  Your article is just sitting there on your blog, but no-one is going to see it if you do not get some traffic to it!  So now you need to create lots of bridges for people to get to it.  Here are some ways:

1.            Social bookmarking.  If you use a social bookmarking site such as Onlywire.com, your article        will be linked immediately to 26 of the most popular, most visited sites on the internet!

2.            Promote your article using Video Marketing Youtube is massive nowadays and shooting a  quick video to promote your article should only take a few minutes and get you massive exposure to your article.

3.            Do an article submission to as many directories as you can.  This step is by far the most important as their are hundreds of directories you can post in.  Using an article submission tool will help speed up the process, saving you a tremendous amount of time and effort.

All of these should link back to your original article which could be on your blog or website, therefore getting you massive traffic to your website!

Larry Beacham ~ ‘King of LinkedIn’

Before Larry Beacham found out about LinkedIn, he was considering committing Network Marketing suicide!  In February 2009, not even a year ago, Larry decided that enough was enough and he should give up on MLM.  Before he gave up altogether, he decided to have one last look on the internet.  He was involved in one or two social networks, but had not heard of LinkedIn until he got an email that day from someone in his network of friends, and that email started him off on his journey to the top!

That email explained to him what he was doing wrong in his Network Marketing business.  The message was so clear it made him cry!  It was so simple, yet so powerful! It was about prospecting and it was simply that he should STOP! Yes, stop prospecting. What it told him was that he needed to become a Professional Marketer.  Larry Beacham had no college education, he was actually a TV cable guy at the time.  He had no marketing training. He had never made a video or written an article.  Immediately Larry joined a training system showing him step by step how to market online.

In the next 6 months Larry Beacham generated 1600 leads and over 95% of them were from LinkedIn!  Now these were not just leads, they were INTERESTED leads, who were looking to join an MLM or already in MLM but needed help with marketing.  Most days he got about 30 leads, but on 23rd June this year he got 46 in one day.  In his lead system he held the number 2 spot for recruiting, and the number 4 spot for lead generation.  And out of the 5,500 members at that time, he was ranking in the top 10 for three months.  He had 94 people join his marketing system, and 89 of them were from LinkedIn.

Using LinkedIn for lead generation compares favourably even against paid strategies like Pay Per Click and can generate similar numbers if done correctly.  Of course LinkedIn is a free strategy and with PPC you would need a minimum of $1200 per month behind you to get involved.

LinkedIn is a very professional social site. The average income of members is $109,000 and they include politicians, Best Selling Authors, Corporate CEO’s and such like.  They have over 47 million members in over 800 countries and executives from all Fortune 500 companies.  Because of this, a high standard is communication is required.  This is not Facebook; you cannot just add friends, you need to begin with people you know and you definitely need to get some recommendations before you will be taken seriously.  A recommendation needs to be from someone who you have worked with at some time, who is willing to write a short testimonial about you.

One of the main features of LinkedIn are the groups.  Every section of the community is represented by different groups and it is essential when joining or creating a group that you communicate with people and under no circumstances do you promote your business within the group.  Groups are for networking, offering help and advice and connecting with people.  On Facebook, many people connect with a new ‘friend’ and then immediately present their business to them.  This would not be tolerated on LinkedIn and would probably get you thrown out of the group.

If you request a connection on LinkedIn, you are asked how you know the other person, whether through business, friendship, a classmate etc.  If you do not know the person, you are told not to invite them.  This means that many fewer connections are made and many people give up on their LinkedIn profiles because it is not as simple as inviting someone to be your friend.  However LinkedIn has alot to offer in terms of the quality of the connections you can make if you have the time to involve yourself in the site.
