Do you use a Dream Book, or a dream board to help you visualise WHY you are doing your home based business? Many people (and I was guilty of this too when I first started my business) think that a dream book or board is a load of baloney!  I found it hard to believe that sticking pictures of a new car or a holiday I wanted would help my business in any way.  I would just nod along when anyone told us to go and make a dream book, and then just not bother.

Until one day at a home business meeting, when a lady bought in her dream book and showed us through it.  She was so passionate about what she wanted from the future, that it shone from her.  Her eyes were alight when she showed us pictures of her family and how she intended to help them once she had the money to do so.  And I realised at that moment that this lady would definitely succeed in her home based business.  You could just tell from the passion she had when she talked about her dreams.  You knew nothing would ever stand in the way of her success.  And that planted a seed (just like my last article!!) in my head.

A short while later it was my birthday and I asked one of my daughters to buy me a beautiful deep pink book that I had seen that even tied with a ribbon.  I didn’t go out looking for a book; I hadn’t even realised that I intended to start a dream book,but while I was browsing around a shop I saw it and thought straight away – my dream book!  Amazing how the seed of an idea can be planted in your head, and start to grow sometime later!

So a few weeks later I started thinking about what I wanted to put in my book.  I knew my main why was to get my partner Alan out of his job.  So I started with pictures of him, and how his life would look once he could give up working!  But as I thought more about it, I realised that I already had a good idea of what I wanted to see in my dream book. It expanded my mind and my thinking – I was actually designing my future life.

My dream book is definitely a work in progress; when I started it everything was a dream.  Now some of my dreams have started to appear in my life and I find I have more goals to add to my book.  Like grandchildren for instance and how I can help them in the future!  And I am remembering long forgotten dreams or wishes I had and perhaps gave up on earlier in my life.  Now I am bringing out these dreams, re-examining them and adding them to my dream book if I still want them.

And don’t make the mistake of thinking its all about a new car, house or holiday.  My dream book is full of how I can help my family, friends and charities. About how I can lead a better, more fulfilled and healthier life! It’s not all about money, but thats nice too!

If you have been guilty of dismissing the idea of a dream book or board, think again! Because you have pictures of your goals clearly there in front of you, you mind accepts that and leads you towards your dreams.  I know because it is slowly happening to me!!  If you can visualise what you want out of life you can get it! Make it real!

Most people who are sponsored into an MLM Home Business fail! In fact the figure is somewhere around 95 to 97% of people who join an MLM Home Business will fail to make more than $10 a month!  That is a very high percentage and hopefully over the next few years, this figure will come done considerably because of the internet.

So why do so many fail?  One of the major reasons is that people who work at their MLM Home Business offline are taught that they should approach EVERYONE they know and everyone they meet as they go through their lives to a business presentation.  The trouble with this is that many people just do not have the right mentality to run their own business.

The majority of people are going to be happy enough working 9-5 in a job.  It may be that they love their job or it may be that they don’t, but the bottom line is they would not be prepared to give up regular pay checks.  Running an MLM Home Business would be considered too far out of their comfort zone.

To my mind the people who are likely to succeed in an MLM/Network Marketing Home Business are the ones with a fire in their belly!  They need to be looking for something; maybe a different way of life.  They need to want more out of life than they are getting and to be prepared to put in the effort to get it.  And I don’t just mean money.  Although that is always good!

They must have a reason WHY they want to get involved that is so BIG, so powerful that nothing will stop them from achieving the results they want.

They need to be determined. MLM can be like the school of hard knocks!  You would need to be prepared to jump up again everytime you got knocked back.  Because believe me MLM is full of ups and downs.

And you would need persistence.  Because results do not come thick and fast when you first start in your MLM Home Business.  You need to go through a learning curve first, and then you need to work your business until you build momentum; only then will you start to see real results.

You would also need to have the right mindset to run an MLM Home Business.  You need to be clear and focused on your goals.  You need to discipline yourself to work on your business everyday. And you need to be prepared to realise when you are procrastinating and push yourself over the next hurdle.  If you have the right mindset, nothing will stop you!

And the last thing is ‘don’t give up‘!  So many people give up on their MLM Home Business before they reach their dreams.  Don’t listen to the dream stealers who say you will never do it.  Just do it and prove them wrong.

Just close your eyes for a minute or two and imagine yourself in that life that you desire.  Imagine you have already reached it.  What can you see?  What are you doing? If you can see it clearly in your mind, your mind will work towards achieving it.

Believe in yourself.  I do!

So, we’re almost half way through this year!  Time flies! How are you going with the goals you set for working your home business in the New Year?  Have you achieved what you intended to achieve?  Did you start in January full of good intentions and aspirations, but find ‘real life’ got in the way and your home business fell by the wayside?  It’s so easy to lose your way when you work from home. You cn get distracted by things happening around you and suddenly you realise tht you have just put your business down and lost any impetus you had!

In order to achieve the results we all want from our business, we really need to touch our business everyday.  No, I’m not saying you cannot ever have a holiday, or a couple of days break, but early on in your home business, if you just keep disappearing for days on end, your business will suffer.  I know, because I did it! Because I had never worked from home before, I would let little things stop me from working and then think ‘oh well its time to make dinner now, I can’t work now’!  and so on.  Almost any excuse would keep me away.

Then I realised that everytime I stopped working for a few days, I stopped generating leads for my business.  And I didn’t like that!  So now I always do something.  Even If I can only spare half an hour, I will do something towards getting my name out there on the internet. I can get up a bit earlier in the morning or I can stay up a bit later at night.  I can miss that television programme that I usually watch!  And even if I am away from home, I can brainstorm ideas for future articles or videos!

So don’t let your life or your children stop you from building your home based business. Make your family the reason WHY you do this business, not an excuse for not doing it! If you think of it from that point of view, it makes it easier to give up some time to your work.  Think about the future, and what this business can give you.  It can time you time and money freedom to ensure you have a wonderful family life!  It can give you a great, comfortable future!

If you have let your home business slide, now is the time to pull out the stops and re-committ to putting in the effort.  Make a pact with yourself that you put a certain number of hours into your business each week.  Try making a new plan of what you want to achieve in the next six months, then work out what you would have to do each week to achieve that goal.

Make it into a big colourful chart and put it up where you work, so you can see clearly what you are meant to be doing each week, or each day.  That way you won’t be sitting in front of your computer thinking ‘what should I be doing?’

Decide that even if you may have let the first half of the year slip by, you will grab the rest of the year by the short and curlies and work it!!

Another amazing point, is that we are only dealing with prospects who are either in Network Marketing already, or who are actively seeking information about Network Marketing. So these people are very highly targeted leads!

So again – when you talk on the phone to these prospects online, you are talking to QUALIFIED leads, who already know, like and trust you! Could it get any easier??

Nothing like the unresponsive, unfriendly and more importantly UNQUALIFIED people to whom I spent six years talking to on the phone with my Network Marketing business offline!

I have been working my home business on the internet now for over six months full time.  For the majority of that time, apart from holidays, I have spent 8-10 hours, sometimes more, each day, studying, writing articles and building up an online presence. I am absolutely loving what I do, and can’t wait to get working every day.  I often spend my nights tossing and turning in bed with ideas floating round in my head, that are keeping me awake!

I have put on about half a stone, am very unfit, and sometimes ache from sitting at the computer for so long.  Not that this has ever stopped me!

But it has made me realise that this is not good for me.  When I realised I was out of puff just climbing the stairs, I knew I had to change things.  So I have embarked on a few lifestyle changes and I can feel the difference already, so I am sharing them in case you are doing the same thing.  I now go for at least one walk a day (its spring here in England, so a great time to get out in the fresh air) or sometimes a bike ride.  Sometimes I get in a second walk with my man in the evening.

Amazingly after only two weeks at this, I feel so much better already, and my paunchy stomach is already receding!

And another wonderful thing is that I feel it is actually helping my home business to escape from the computer for a short while.  I am more focused.  While I am walking, ideas come to mind of what I should be doing next or article ideas, and I can see everything so much more clearly when I am walking.  Its funny, but I spend a little less time on the computer, but I work a little harder.  Probably I am just working smarter, not harder!

I have also changed several of my coffees for glasses of water.  Much better for you, and of course you should not drink too much coffee anyway.  And water keeps me hydrated. And I am cutting back on the snacks I used to eat.  It’s so easy when you work from home and no-one is around, to just keep nipping to the kitchen for another packet of crisps or other ‘naughty’ snack!  So now I am keeping some fresh and dried fruit and nuts around for when I need something.

At lunch now I actually stop work, go away from the computer and sit somewhere else to enjoy my lunch; preferably the garden!  Again the change of scenery makes me more refreshed when I return.

So take some time out of your busy schedule to relax or get some exercise; the result can only be a healthier you and a better run home business!

If you are thinking about jumping onboard and running your MLM online, here are several reasons why I believe that is a great idea!

1. You actually can get marketing training on the internet!

When you start a Network Marketing business from home, you are shown by your upline what they do to recruit people into their business. This usually includes showing the business to all your family and friends, posting flyers on cars and stopping people in shopping malls. This ensures that you can make money sooner rather than later, on anyone who becomes one of your prospects. When someone ‘opts-in’ to your list, ie jumps into your funnel, they receive emails offering them marketing help and advice. If they choose to use this advice and buy the product we have suggested, you make a commission on it. Therefore, even if they do not join your primary business (your mlm) you may still make money from them.

And don’t make the mistake of thinking you are duping these people into buying from you. The tools and resources which you are offering them are quality tools that they will undoubtedly need to market their MLM online. In the long run, if they are serious about building an MLM business on the internet, they need these products.

4. Calling people on the phone is so much easier!

That may sound strange. How can it be easier?? Well on the internet, when we are marketing our MLM business, we do not chase people or ask them to look at our opportunity. THEY COME TO US!! We use something called Attraction Marketing, where we brand ourselves, not our product. Our focus is always on giving value and helping others to succeed in their MLM business, whatever company they are with. We write articles and make videos. We have our photo up on all the social media sites and our blogs and other sites online.

So when someone becomes a lead and we pick up the phone and call them, they often already know our voice from our videos or can picture us from our photo!! And because we have not chased them; indeed they have come to us by signing up on one of our web pages, they actually WANT to talk to us!! Amazing.

When I think back to all the calls I made to people who were absolutely not interested in a home business opportunity!! How desperate I was! And the problem is that when you are desperate, it comes out in your voice. So your prospect often knows that you scared and uncomfortable. Nowadays when I pick up the phone, I know I am speaking to someone who is either already in Network Marketing, or is interested in getting involved! How much better is that??

5. It’s so much more fun!!

When I think back to the old days of running my MLM business off the internet, and remember lots of proscrastination and feelings of dread! I cannot honestly remember enjoying it that much, but I was determined, and that is a strength that you need in MLM. But now I have so much more fun. The people I talk to are so upbeat and optimistic. They all help each other and try to always give value to everyone. So you are working in a much more positive vibe!!

And of course, you can always get up and dance around the room or make yourself another cup of coffee…………..

This morning I went on Facebook and had a few new friend requests as usual.  I decided to deal them straight away.  I accepted the first two, then looked at the third one, who had written quite alot by Facebook standards.  Wow, it was from Robert Kiyosaki, author of Rich Dad, Poor Dad amongst other things.  Doesn’t it make you realise the power of Social Media!  Robert Kiyosaki requested me as a friend!! Amazing. Yes, I’m am sure I am not the only one, but doesn’t it just amaze you that you can connect with just about anyone on Social Media sites.

It would have been hard to imagine being able to chat on the internet with anyone famous a few years ago.  My daughter spoke to Dawn French a few months ago on Twitter! Incredible.  So are you using Social Media in your business? And if not why not?  Robert Kiyosaki is in his 60′s but he is embracing the internet and modern ways of doing business.  He actually asked me to join his fan page, and offered me an ebook he has written for $5 instead of $65.  Well of course I grabbed it; who wouldnt?

Because readers are leaders, and leaders are readers!!

But in doing that, don’t force other people to look.  Just a friendly word to them about what you are offering, nothing heavy. That is definitely the way to get people interested.  Don’t force your business down people’s throats, you will just be avoided as a spammer.  If you give value, you will get people’s interest.

This tip in the series ‘What are the MLM basics for online marketing’ is all about YOU.  Because when you come online to market your MLM business, you don’t actually market your business, you market YOU. Online we use Attraction Marketing to attract leads to us rather than the outdated methods of contacting our family and friends.  To understand Attraction Marketing, you need to read Mike Dillard’s book ‘Magnetic Sponsoring’.  Mike will explain to you the whole concept of Attraction Marketing, so you can understand how to position yourself.

In learning the MLM basics for online marketing, branding yourself is one of the most important and fundamental things you need to do.  Those who fail to do this and start to pitch their business to everyone they know and plaster pictures of their juice all over will end up with very few friends on the social sites.  People hate being sold to, but they love to buy.  They just want the freedom to choose what they buy.

So forget everything you were taught in the old school of MLM, and start ‘branding yourself’.  This may sound strange or uncomfortable at first; you may want to hide behind your brand.  But eventually you will discover that everyone who is marketing online, irrespective of age or gender is marketing this way.  People buy from people they know, like and trust.  So you need to be seen and you need to connect with people.

The way to do that is to be valuable to people.  Do not try to pitch you business, but instead offer any help you can give.  Try to always give value.  You may worry you have nothing to give, but you give away information.  As you start to learn about marketing on the internet, you share it with others.  This starts to brand you as a leader or a trainer.  It also reinforces what you have just learnt, because you are writing about it or doing a video about it.

You also need to consider your brand when you buy domain names for your websites.  Your main website or capture page is usually something with MLM in it, and is your brand, like mine is PrimeMLMTraffic.  You need to put some thought and perhaps some research into the name, and see what is available.

For your blog, most people use their own name.  This is fine if you have an unusual name, but if your name is more popular, it may not be available.  In this case you would add something to it, such as WhoIs….. or WorkWith….  You need to get your name out there as much as possible, so think about every site (such as Facebook or Twitter) you join and try to incorporate your name in your site name.

All this will help you to begin branding, ‘YOU INC’!

This is Tip 2 in the article series ‘What Are The MLM Basics For Marketing Online’.  The first tip was that you need a system in order to market your business online.  Without a system you would be spending a great deal of time and money trying to work out what to do.  The next MLM Basics For Marketing Online Tip is also a biggy!  Once you have a system in place, you need to get some Training!  This is the biggest problem in Network Marketing.  Although it is called ‘marketing‘, no-one give you any marketing training.  And when you bring your business online, it is all about the marketing.

So where do you go for training?  Well if you took tip number 1, getting a system, you would now have access to training.  Without the system, you could maybe try to find a mentor online who would be willing to give up his time to coach you.  Otherwise you would have to learn from your mistakes, just like a huge number of people do online.  The trouble with this is that you will probably do what you were taught offline and constantly spew out your information about your business.  This is the way the amateur networkers work.  It leads to people removing you from their lists of friends, because they are fed up of being sold to.

Training is hugely important for marketing on the internet. 

If you consider that you would have to be trained for any new job, then it is just the same on the internet.  You are very unlikely to know exactly what to do on your first day online.  Everything you have been taught about the ‘old school’ methods of Network Marketing does NOT work online! On the internet we use Attraction Marketing to generate leads. We do not chase prospects around, we do not cold call anyone and we do not pester people as they go about their work.  Prospects come to us, because they are attracted to us, not the other way round.

The system I use, Lead System Pro, has an unbelievable amount of training in the back office. 

In fact one of the trainings, on Facebook marketing, is so popular that it attracts hundreds of people everyday to find out about our system!  Because marketing on Facebook is so popular, and so many people are joining Facebook everyday, anyone with a business wants to find out how to market there.  The Article Marketing training is also very highly sought after.

As well as trainings on all the social media sites, you will also need training about posting adverts, putting up banner adverts, how to do paid marketing such as pay-per-click and how to actually use Attraction Marketing.  Once you have studied some of the ways to attract leads, you can start to generate leads into your system everyday.  The best thing to do when you are just starting is to learn to master just one or two methods of lead generation.  When you are getting 10-20 leads a day from your efforts, you can continue to do that method, but also get some training on another method and stick at that until you have mastered that one too.

Eventually you will have built up several different ways to attract leads into your business.  But all this takes time.  Do not give up after a month or two, because it does take time to understand marketing online completely.  You may feel that you are doing everything you have been taught, but you are not getting the results you hoped for.  It could just be one little tweak that makes all the difference.  Just go over the training again, and see if you can pick up something you may have missed the first time. 

And then just keep going!

Prepaid Legal Leads can be difficult to find in your warm market.  Although your family and friends may be interested in getting legal cover, they are unlikely to want to join the business unless they are very business minded or entrepreneurial.  Once the warm market is exhausted, the options for generating Prepaid Legal Leads have always been buying leads or approaching your cold market.

Prepaid Legal is one of the oldest, most well established and successful Network Marketing companies around, but it has one downfall.  By not using the internet to help their associates generate Prepaid Legal leads, they will always lose associates who are discouraged by not enrolling people into their business.   Once the associates have approached their warm market about the business, they will need to go out and find other people to talk to.

Prepaid Legal actually became a Network Marketing company in 1983, but the company really started in 1969 when the founder of the company, Harland C Stonecipher was involved in a car accident, which left him with legal bills.  Prepaid Legal has over 1.5 million associates.  In the last quarter of 2009, the number of associates joining this company rose by 89.4% on the previous year!  Of course, more people do join Network Marketing companies in a recession, but even allowing for that, that percentage is incredible.

For around $20 a month, you get access to their lawyers for your legal problems.  Some companies purchase this protection and give it to their employees as an additional benefit.

Prepaid Legal encourages associates to use ‘Old School’ methods of prospecting such as approaching your family and friends and the three foot rule.  Sadly few Network Marketing companies have an online system to teach their associates how to find qualified leads.  Some people try buying ‘Legal leads’ but the majority of these leads are old, or have been used several times already.  They rarely work and are usually not targeted.

The modern way to generate Prepaid Legal leads is to use a system online which shows you step by step how to market and how to set up your own attraction marketing system to magnetically draw leads to you without using the out-dated methods usually associated with Network Marketing.  This means you will have access to far more people using the internet, because you are connecting with people all over the world, rather than just in your local area.

Very few Network Marketing companies teach their associates how to market their businesses, despite it being called Network “Marketing”!  Without marketing skills, people get easily discouraged and then leave the business.  However this does not happen if you have a system, because as long as you are prepared to work hard and study hard, you will have the principles by which to build a massive business.

I myself have only been marketing online for a few months, but can generate leads everyday, because I am learning the principles of attraction marketing from the system I belong to.  Many of the methods I use are free or cost very little money although there are some paid methods which we learn as well.  I have generated more leads online in a few months than I ever did in 6 years of marketing offline!!
