If you are in MLM, take this MLM tip and BRAND YOURSELF! Because this is THE most important tip you will get in marketing your mlm business on the internet!  You have to brand yourself, because people buy people, not products. 

Would you buy something from someone that you did not know, like or trust? No of course not.  And neither will anyone else.

Many people struggle with this concept when they first come online to build their MLM/Network Marketing business.  They have been taught offline, and believe that the only way to build their business is to shout their brand from the rooftops.  Unfortunately, they consider their brand to be their Company or their Products.  However on the internet your brand is You! If you are shouting out your Company or Your Products all over the internet, you will be considered an amateur and very few prospects will be interested in you.

Droves of people who are in MLM already, or who want to know more about MLM are coming onto the internet everyday looking for answers. They search round to see what other people are doing, so they can copy them.  So to succeed online you need to have yourself  branded all over the web, so people can keep coming across your name and your brand.  When they look at what you are doing online and consider you an expert, they will want more and more information from you.

So how do I become the expert you might ask!  Well firstly you need to remember that none of us began as experts in internet marketing.  To become an expert you have to give value. And to give value, you need knowledge.  So become a sponge.  Start by learning something everyday about internet marketing.

Each day as you learn something, then you share it with others.  You can write an article about what you have learned, you can put it on your blog and send it out to article directories.  You could do a video about what you have learned and put it on YouTube or other video sites.

And then keep on rinsing and repeating.  Learn everyday.  Watch videos, attend webinars, read articles.  Soak up the information, turn it into articles of your own, in your own words, and get them out there.  Become the teacher.

Remember, everyone has to go through a learning curve.   No-one is exempt!   None of us came onto the internet knowing all about internet marketing.  And the great thing is that within a few months, if you keep learning everyday, you will be so much more of an expert than the people who will be coming online after you!

You will have branded yourself as a leader!

I recently went to Lanzarote in the Canary Isles for a short break.  We stayed in Costa Teguise.  Wherever we went, on the beach or in the bars or restaurants, we were constantly bombarded with people selling sunglasses, hats, bracelets etc or offering massages.  We always declined their wares politely and refused to let them bother us.  But it did make me realise that there was a better way for them to approach people, and that would be to try to give some value upfront!

About halfway through our holiday we went on a bus trip to another resort, Puerto Del Carmen, where the bus stopped outside a small modern shopping centre on several floors.  As we came out of one of the shops, we were approached by a man selling different lotions and potions.  Our first thought was to say no thank-you and walk on.  However this man, who was happy and smiling, engaged us straight away.

He asked us where we were from, in perfect English, and asked us if we were off to the beach as it was such a lovely day.  We ended up chatting for a couple of minutes and we told us about a little known beach which he himself used, which was particularly nice and ‘far from the madding crowd’!  As we left him, he asked us to come and tell us what we thought of it one day, and maybe have a look at his products.

We did not feel at all pressured.  He did not lead with his business.  Of course he was there to sell his products, but by giving us value in the form of information that was of use to us, we were totally happy to return to talk to him and try out his products!  We knew he would not make us feel that we had to buy something, but we actually felt that we would like to do some business with him because he had been so friendly and helpful!

And it made me draw some parallels with my Network Marketing business. Because that is exactly what we try to do online; give value up front, without expecting anything in return.  Try to help people with their problems, by giving them information which could help them.  You could offer  free training, information or advice to help them to build their online business.

Because we know that if we help people get what they want and they begin to look on us as a valuable resource, they may come to us at some time in the future if they are looking for a new Network Marketing business opportunity.

So be free with your help and training; teach everything you learn to someone else and you will be rewarded over and over again in the months and years to come!

This tip in the series ‘What are the MLM basics for online marketing’ is all about YOU.  Because when you come online to market your MLM business, you don’t actually market your business, you market YOU. Online we use Attraction Marketing to attract leads to us rather than the outdated methods of contacting our family and friends.  To understand Attraction Marketing, you need to read Mike Dillard’s book ‘Magnetic Sponsoring’.  Mike will explain to you the whole concept of Attraction Marketing, so you can understand how to position yourself.

In learning the MLM basics for online marketing, branding yourself is one of the most important and fundamental things you need to do.  Those who fail to do this and start to pitch their business to everyone they know and plaster pictures of their juice all over will end up with very few friends on the social sites.  People hate being sold to, but they love to buy.  They just want the freedom to choose what they buy.

So forget everything you were taught in the old school of MLM, and start ‘branding yourself’.  This may sound strange or uncomfortable at first; you may want to hide behind your brand.  But eventually you will discover that everyone who is marketing online, irrespective of age or gender is marketing this way.  People buy from people they know, like and trust.  So you need to be seen and you need to connect with people.

The way to do that is to be valuable to people.  Do not try to pitch you business, but instead offer any help you can give.  Try to always give value.  You may worry you have nothing to give, but you give away information.  As you start to learn about marketing on the internet, you share it with others.  This starts to brand you as a leader or a trainer.  It also reinforces what you have just learnt, because you are writing about it or doing a video about it.

You also need to consider your brand when you buy domain names for your websites.  Your main website or capture page is usually something with MLM in it, and is your brand, like mine is PrimeMLMTraffic.  You need to put some thought and perhaps some research into the name, and see what is available.

For your blog, most people use their own name.  This is fine if you have an unusual name, but if your name is more popular, it may not be available.  In this case you would add something to it, such as WhoIs….. or WorkWith….  You need to get your name out there as much as possible, so think about every site (such as Facebook or Twitter) you join and try to incorporate your name in your site name.

All this will help you to begin branding, ‘YOU INC’!

This is Tip 2 in the article series ‘What Are The MLM Basics For Marketing Online’.  The first tip was that you need a system in order to market your business online.  Without a system you would be spending a great deal of time and money trying to work out what to do.  The next MLM Basics For Marketing Online Tip is also a biggy!  Once you have a system in place, you need to get some Training!  This is the biggest problem in Network Marketing.  Although it is called ‘marketing‘, no-one give you any marketing training.  And when you bring your business online, it is all about the marketing.

So where do you go for training?  Well if you took tip number 1, getting a system, you would now have access to training.  Without the system, you could maybe try to find a mentor online who would be willing to give up his time to coach you.  Otherwise you would have to learn from your mistakes, just like a huge number of people do online.  The trouble with this is that you will probably do what you were taught offline and constantly spew out your information about your business.  This is the way the amateur networkers work.  It leads to people removing you from their lists of friends, because they are fed up of being sold to.

Training is hugely important for marketing on the internet. 

If you consider that you would have to be trained for any new job, then it is just the same on the internet.  You are very unlikely to know exactly what to do on your first day online.  Everything you have been taught about the ‘old school’ methods of Network Marketing does NOT work online! On the internet we use Attraction Marketing to generate leads. We do not chase prospects around, we do not cold call anyone and we do not pester people as they go about their work.  Prospects come to us, because they are attracted to us, not the other way round.

The system I use, Lead System Pro, has an unbelievable amount of training in the back office. 

In fact one of the trainings, on Facebook marketing, is so popular that it attracts hundreds of people everyday to find out about our system!  Because marketing on Facebook is so popular, and so many people are joining Facebook everyday, anyone with a business wants to find out how to market there.  The Article Marketing training is also very highly sought after.

As well as trainings on all the social media sites, you will also need training about posting adverts, putting up banner adverts, how to do paid marketing such as pay-per-click and how to actually use Attraction Marketing.  Once you have studied some of the ways to attract leads, you can start to generate leads into your system everyday.  The best thing to do when you are just starting is to learn to master just one or two methods of lead generation.  When you are getting 10-20 leads a day from your efforts, you can continue to do that method, but also get some training on another method and stick at that until you have mastered that one too.

Eventually you will have built up several different ways to attract leads into your business.  But all this takes time.  Do not give up after a month or two, because it does take time to understand marketing online completely.  You may feel that you are doing everything you have been taught, but you are not getting the results you hoped for.  It could just be one little tweak that makes all the difference.  Just go over the training again, and see if you can pick up something you may have missed the first time. 

And then just keep going!

Mike Dillard single-handedly revolutionised the MLM industry.  Without Mike Dillard we would all still be hitting on our friends and family and stopping complete strangers in shopping malls to ask them to look at our business, instead of using Attraction Marketing to attract people to us.  We have alot to thank Mike for!  So it is hard to believe that Mike Dillard himself once did all the things that so many Network Marketers do in their first days in the business.

Mike Dillard got started in MLM whilst still in College.  He was shy and introverted and the thought of selling petrified him.  He was his sponsors worst nightmare, constantly calling them up, asking lots and lots of questions, but never actually taking any action.  Sounds familiar!  He spent many years getting his tools in order and studying Network Marketing; doing anything to prevent him from actually calling his leads.  He, like so many others, wasted 5 years doing that.

But he did have a dream of succeeding in the industry and didn’t want to do anything else.  However, there was a disconnect between his vision and what he would allow himself to do!

Video Marketing will rock your MLM!  It is one of the best ways available to get yourself noticed using Attraction Marketing.  Because YouTube is now ranking as the third most visited site on the internet, any mlm business owner who regularly downloads videos to YouTube are well on their way to becoming recognised and remembered online.

And who wouldn’t want to rock their MLM with Video Marketing?

I know you are probably saying its scary but you just have to get over yourself!  No-one really likes seeing themselves up on a screen, but you have to remember that other people see you differently.  Just try to imagine the camera/video is your friend and have a conversation with them.  Relax and try to tell a story or  concentrate on getting your point across.  Have a written plan of what you are going to say in case your mind goes blank and try to find somewhere comfortable to stand or sit.  If you feel uncomfortable inside try going into your garden and find a nice background for your video.

Make sure once you have set up an account with YouTube that you connect with other people there.  Watch other peoples videos, and subscribe to every channel that you enjoy.  Add anyone you particularly like, or already know as a friend.  Leave comments for people and always encourage others.  You will find that many people, especially fellow MLM’ers will reciprocate and subscribe to your channel.  This alone will bring you into more and more peoples consciousness, because the sheer numbers of people using the site mean that your videos will be watched regularly.

Post videos up everyday.  Particularly if you are just starting out with Attraction Marketing.  After a couple of months of regularly posting videos and adding friends and subscribers, you will be perceived as someone who knows what they are doing with Video Marketing and will gain more viewers.

Make sure your videos give value.  You want the viewer to come away thinking that they would have paid money for the information you gave them, or that they definitely learned something from watching it.  It may be that you just made them think about something which they had forgotten, or maybe made them see something from another angle.  As long as they watch them and feel they were useful in some way, then you have succeeded in your efforts.

One good way of making a video is to share a story that you know with the viewer.  First of all it will probably make you feel more comfortable telling a story and secondly, stories inspire people and change peoples lives.  If they can relate to the story you are telling, they will feel good that something like that happened to someone else.  This may inspire them to follow in your footsteps and get on with their business.

A good way to ensure the viewer clicks through to your article or blog, or whatever you want them to click through to, is to not finish your thought!  If for instance. you were saying there are two ways to do something, tell them one, then suggest they click on the link to find out what the other one is! This way they feel psycologically that they are missing something and click on your link to find out what that is, even if they do not realise why they are doing it.

And always make sure you give a call to action at the end of your video.  A large number of people watching your video will click on a link if you advice them to.  You need to TELL them what to do next.  It could be ‘visit my website at..’ or ‘click on the link next to this video’.
